Healing Hens was founded in 2023 as a 501c3 non-profit organization providing hens and coops to nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Not only does spending time with chickens (and birds in general) have health benefits, but having routines and jobs for residents related to caring for the chickens is tremendously important.

Why chickens?

Our founder, Kris started raising Silkies in 2022 and quickly developed a love (some might call it an obsession) for the breed. She spends a considerable amount of time with her flock and has experienced the joy first hand that can be had caring for chickens.

Beyond work, life and caring for her beloved Silkies, Kris wanted to find service opportunities near her after she moved from Dallas. After considerable searching and some failed attempts at volunteering, Kris decided to marry her passion for service with her love of chickens to help others live their happiest and most joy filled lives.
